Accounting is the practice of monitoring and analyzing financial records for either an individual or a corporation. Accountants have to be good with numbers and detail-oriented. Professional accounting positions usually require a bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field.

Accounting programs usually begin with introductory courses that focus on basic accounting principles. After completing the introductory courses, students move on to the more advanced courses like:

  • tax accounting
  • cost accounting
  • auditing
  • accounting information systems

Most programs also include other business courses like business law, ethics and auditing. Outside of the classroom, a lot of schools offer internships so that students can apply what they have learned in the real-world.

In Kentucky, there are many schools with accounting bachelor degree programs. Graduates of these programs are qualified for a variety of entry-level accounting positions.
