Educational Information:
Students can pursue bachelor’s degree programs, master’s degree programs and other types of accounting programs in New York. A basic bachelor’s program will prepare students for accounting careers with courses like accounting principles and theory, auditing, cost accounting, budget development, legal aspects of accounting, accounting ethics, managerial accounting and other courses.
Licensing Information:
The New York Office of the Professionals requires that those offering accounting services in New York obtain a CPA license. Those who wish to apply for a CPA license must be at least 21 years of age, have good moral character and pay the license fee of $377. Students must complete an accounting program that has been accredited by the NYS Public Accounting Board. It is also acceptable if individuals have at least 15 years of experience in the accounting field.
